Vintage maps

New Zealanders are here to help.  At every point where my face has been puzzled, stared squarely at an info board far too long or just general freckled bewilderment, I’ve been met with a Mary poppins natured kiwi; there to make it all better. Having no real hard and fast cycle plans, just recommendations on a piece of card, I stopped for directions at a discount dairy. The man behind the counter searched, checked and printed out 5 sheets of google maps for me.

My destination, as it turned out was just around the corner. So I bought some tangy sweets for a dollar, debated the population squeeze and pricing in London with him, then hopped back on blue steel, the vintage Raleigh I hired for the day from these chaps and off I went to Woolston (which appears to do a strong line in roadside vintage shops) towards Sumner and back to Christchurch.
